-Foyce Carol Oates
I started reading to find an escape from my dull monotonous life style. It was precisely when my three kids were quite able to do their tasks on their own. And there had started my reading journey.
After reading quite a
number of books, it was in the recent couple of years I started taking in the
stuffs I read to another level. I started
learning the style and the art of writing, of different authors - Preeti
Shenoy, Chetan Bhagat, Shobhaa De, Nicholas Sparks, Kiran Manral, Jaya Jha,
Sachin Garg, Jaishree Misra were a few, among others. Every book, in its unique way has a take
away.
Some books are
evergreen. No matter how many times you
read them and re-read, they retain the same magic as they had when you first
read them. There are some others, what
gets you thinking long after you have flipped the last page. And some have the capacity to be etched in
your minds and hearts, never can leave you.
While some, give a pleasure taking you through its journey for the time
being. Some continue to stay for your
life time. There are other books that
come once in a while to appeal you because of the blurb and the title but fail
to work charms on you. And
there are other few that leaves you with a sense of awe.
And a very few connect with your life. There are few more, what you read for the
sake of reading, rather to kill your time.
Among all what I have
read, Jaishree Misra, is one who’s writing I adore. Needless to say, I am a big fan of her. Her amazing narration, switch from the past
to the present and the wonderful flow of taking the story forward with every apt
word is simply superb. I have read all
her books and in fact, I am trying to adopt her style of writing in my
stories. And of course, Nicholas Sparks
too, is the one whose writing takes me to an entire different world. And I must
say, I feel disappointed when I realize that it is that last page that ends the
book.
Of course, there are
many other short story writers, details of whose I would be sharing in my
future posts as I still am in the process of coming to a conclusion as to who
is my favourite among all those…..
Stay in touch. Love you all.
